The Hobbit

So the last post got me 7 page counts in an afternoon? I never imagined...


So, the Hobbit? It was great. Terrific. I'd say that the characters' portrayal was better than LOTR. However, still no film's plot could match LOTR's epicness.

Martin Freeman IS Bilbo. He was born a Hobbit. His moves and expression, they were ADORABLE.

I noticed, both in the books and the movies, Gandalf's character was more soft in the Hobbit compared to LOTR. He was actually afraid in some scene.

There were slight alterations in the screenplay from the books, but I believe that was for the best, to create a villian (the orcs) with a better background story. And Thorin actually realise Bilbo's value so fast!

I like how the movie started, from preparations for the party in the begining of LOTR, to Bilbo's flashback.

Some may think that one book made into 3 movies would be too draggy, but I assure you, once they finally left Bilbo's house, the pace quickens, just like in the books. Most of the big events like the goblin battle and the wolves scene were settled in only about 10 pages.

Sherlock

So I've been gone a while and... what brought me back? Sherlock! If you have'nt already seen BBC's 21th century Sherlock, go to cokeandpopcron.eu RIGHT NOW.

It's a BBC tv series with two seasons and three 90 mins episode each, so it's actually more like a tv movie. Sherlock's screenplay was written based on Arthur C. Doyle's original works, but much cooler, and with a twist. *Spoilers* Rache in Study in Pink (originally Study in Scarlet) doesn't mean revenge in german anymore, and the HOUND in the Hound of Baskerville isn't an actual hound. And Reichenbach fall, it's a picture.

I'll say this, if you have read Doyle's original works, this show will never cease to surprise you. There are even many easter eggs for you to realize. Some of the dialogues are even extracts from the original works.

And so I've watched all 6 eps in the week. It's plain beautiful. The directors gave it a very different approach in editing and transitions. Some scenes were filmed in Sherlock's own point of view to give the audience a glimpse of the genius mind. I especially like the editing of Sherlock's mind palace scene in Hound of Baskeville. The on screen texts are so well choreographed with Benedict's movements.

And then there are the actors. Cumberbatch was more than wonderful, and people often accuse Freeman of driving them to tears. *spoilers* The way John chokes out the words: "My best friend, Sherlock Holmes, is dead" and his famous speech at the end of the ep(I cant resist the urge to write it out):  Um. Hm. You... you told me once that you weren't a hero. Um. There were times that I didn't even think you were human. But let me tell you this, you were the best man and the most human.... human being that I have ever known, and no one will ever convince me that you told me a lie. And so... there. I was so alone and I owe you so much. Please, there's just one more thing. One more thing. One more miracle, Sherlock, for me. Don't be... dead. Would you do that, just for me? Just stop it, stop this...

So now the season ends in another cliffhanger, and *spoilers* everyone fanboy fangirls are trying to figure out Sherlock's fake death.

Cast Away

Haven't watch any new movies for a while, since December(The Adventure of Tintin). I Really wondered how I survived(perhaps the exams for once was any direct help). I think I'll write a review of Cast Away.

One of the classic scenes That's where you get real excited. Kinda inspiring, in some other way.
